Ariel Winter, from the series Modern Family, attended Disney’s D23 Expo just days after she admitted that she had undergone plastic surgery to reduce her breasts. She suffers from frequent back pains due to her large breasts.

Seventeen-year old Ariel Winter also said that people seem to notice her breasts first instead of focusing on her acting skills or how well she does her job as an actress. This is why the young actress underwent plastic surgery, specifically breast reduction.

If you’re thinking of getting a breast reduction surgery, here are some important notes to consider:

  • Preparation – Check the skills of the plastic surgeon that will perform the surgery on you. Find before and after photos of his or her previous patients. For the “before” photos, find a patient who has similar body size, areola size, nipple location, breast symmetry, chest size and breast size.

As for the “after” photos, the things to note are the visibility of scar, symmetry, whether they look natural, the location of the nipple as well as the extent of reduction. This is imperative because you as a future patient won’t be able to predict the results of the plastic surgery but at least you can somehow measure up the skills of the surgeon.

  • Operation – During the plastic surgery itself, three incisions will be done. First is around the areola, second is the vertical cut from the bottom of the areola to the underside of the breast and third incision follows the curve of the breast crease. After the surgery, the patient is advised to take time to heal from 5 days up to 2 weeks. Ariel Winter took 5 days to heal.
  • Recovery – During the recovery time, the patient must have these four necessities: ice, washcloths, loose shirts and special creams or ointments. The patient must also abstain from any heavy physical activities in order for the scar will heal faster.

Breast reduction surgeries are not just for women but also for men.
